Part 4 - The Regress

Return to Chicago
June 7 to June 18

And now the truth comes out. Did we ride the bikes the whole distance? Not the whole way. The temperatures were extremely high at times and the humidity extremely uncomfortable. The hills in southern Indiana were so steep that Chris helped his aging Dad. Once, he pushed my loaded bike to the top of one of them. I was amazed. Chris never once complained about the discomforts of this journey. When  my uncle, Jim McCarty, offered to drive us from Spring Mill Park to Indianapolis, I welcomed the offer to chop 130 kilmeters off our trip. That gave us a couple of days to recoup. That night, when the rains came, we slept like babies in our tent south of Indianapolis.
