Namibia, Africa

Our first time on the African continent.

My wife and I enjoy going to new and exotic places.

The opportunity arose to visit friends of ours in Namibia, so we accepted the offer to stay in their home for a couple of weeks.

This trip was by far the most interesting from the standpoint of seeing wild animals that were not in a zoo.

It was also a cultural experience for us to see how the nation of Namibia has developed.

Livigno, Italy

This trip was not really a bicycle trip but rather a Lauguage trip. I have been to Italy so many times that I decided it was time to learn a little bit of Italian. With a good teacher - actually several good teachers and friends - I was able to learn enough Italian to be dangerous. Along with learning the polite form of greetings, I also learned a few idiomatic phrases that would allow me to insult someone who was treating me badly. THAT could be dangerous. In any case, it was a fun trip that was more a social event than cycling or mountain climbing in this wonderful mountain resort area.

The ladies in the photograph are selling milk and cheese during the Notte Nera - the Dark Night - when all the lights in Livigno are turned off and people walk about the city celebrating with torches aflame. The highlight of the evening are the fireworks at midnight.

Visit to another Plant

Well, it seemed like another planet. My son, Chris, teaches English in Burma and he invited us to spend a vacation together with him. Even the poorest of the poor in Germany would feel rich in Burma. The average person earns about one dollar per day here and you can get a full meal at a restaurant for peanuts. The people are the friendliest I’ve ever seen anywhere on this planet. Perhaps when you have nothing to steal, you can enjoy life more?

Namibia, Afrika

Skiing in Livigno

Myanmar (Burma)

Livigno, Italien

Skiing in Livigno, Italy

ITALY - Livigno, Sondrio

IIt’s no secret that I am handicapped with lungs that don’t work properly. Livigno is a haven of health for me and I visit it when my lungs begin to fail. Situated at 1800-2700 meters in altitude, I can breathe freely when the air in Germany becomes oppresive to me. Of course, when it snows, it is a perfect get-away to ski.

Italien - Livigno

Climbing in the Dolomites, Italy

Dolomites, Italy

Not a bike trip. Just a quick weekend with friends and an opportunity to do something other than cycling.

Dolomiten, Italien

Kein Radtour.
