		The Staff at Plaza Plachéda


	These hard-working friendly people helped me many times during my stay in Livigno. I must say that they also became my friends. They were almost always smiling and I never saw them complain when dealing with customers. Giovanni, the young man on the right, just celebrated his 22nd birthday. I couldn’t resist giving him some chocolate from Germany. Diese schwer-arbeitende freundliche Leute haben mir während meiner Aufenthalt in Livigno mehrmals geholfen. Ich muss auch sagen, dass sie eigentlich meine Freunde geworden sind. Sie haben fast immer gelächelt und sie haben sich nie beschwert als sie Kunden geholfen haben. Der junge Mann rechts hat gerade seine 22. Geburtstag gefeiert. Er hat sich riesig gefreut über etwas Schokolade aus Deutschland.



What makes Livigno so special to me are the people I met there - people from all walks of life that live in or travel to this unusual city in the sky. Like Andrea and Simona below, a friendly couple that stopped at the tourist center (right) while I was breakfasting there. We didn’t talk long, but it was enjoyable just to converse with them for a while. Ein Grund warum Livigno für mich etwas Besonderes ist, sind die Leute, die ich dort kennengelernt habe - Leute von allen Lebensrichtungen - wie Andrea und Simona (unten), ein freundliches Paar, die ich beim Frühstücken am Touristenzentrum (rechts) kennengelernt hatte. Wir haben nicht lange geredet, aber es war interessant mit ihnen eine Weile einiges zu diskutieren.

Most certainly, I owe thanks to Emanuele (left) for providing me with a quiet desk in the library where I could work.

Auf jeden Fall, muss ich mich bei Emanuele in der Bibliothek bedanken, weil er mir einen Schreibtisch in einer ruhigen Ecke gegeben hat, wo ich arbeiten könnte.

...and, in general, just a great guy to know. Adriano won a game of chess against me, but I have challenged him to a repeat match. He had better be ready the next time we meet.

Since I am a writer and philologist myself, I consider him to be a colleague. During my time in Livigno we became good friends. I hope we meet again soon.

...und, im Allgemein, ein super Kerl zu kennen. Adriano hat gegen mich ein Schachspiel gewonnen, aber ich habe ihn herausgefordert nochmal gegen mich zu spielen. Das nächste mal, wenn wir uns sehen, sollte er bereit sein.

Weil ich auch Autor und Sprachwissenschaftler bin, ist er für mich ein Kollege. Während meiner Zeit in Livigno sind wir gute Freunde geworden. Ich hoffe wir sehen uns bald wieder.

		Chilling Out in Livigno!

Livigno has a lovely Promenade along the stream that flows through the valley. In the winter, it is the cross-country skiing track.

Am Bach, der durch das Tal fliest hat Livigno ein sehr schönes Promenade. Im Winter ist es natürlich die Langlauf Loipe.

		According to a friend I met in Livigno, there are more mobile phones in Italy than people. Ein Freund, den ich in Livigno kennengelernt habe, hat mir gesagt, dass es mehr Handys in Italien gibt als Leute.
