Indiana Cycling Tour

First official day of cycling. The fog rises on a small lake in central Indiana where I spent the night. And so the trip begins. Early in the morning, it was only about 65 degrees Fahrenheit. (17 Celsius) - perfect for cycling. By 4 p.m., the temperature had reached 92 F (34 C) and I looked for a cold glass of ice water.

This nostalgic part of my journey took me to a cemetery where parents were buried. Afterwards, I visited the Twin Springs cemetery, where my sister, Karen Sue, was buried in an unmarked grave.

To the left is the grave of Fannie Harris, my great grandmother, behind it is the unmarked grave site of my sister, Karen Sue. To the right, the “shelf” where my parents were laid to rest.

Links is das Grab meiner Urgrossmutter, dahinter das unmarkiertes Grab meiner Schwester, Karen Sue. Recht liegen meine Eltern in einem überirdischen “Regal”.

Here’s an interesting piece of history. My cousin, Damon, showed me the grave of my great great grandfather, Jacob Sheppard -- a soldier in the civil war. Along with my sister, he was buried in the Twin Springs Cemetery

What’s in Indiana?

Miles and miles of cornfields and soybean fields - food for pigs and cows and, of course, people. On my first long day of cycling, I rode over 70 miles past hundreds of farms. The people are very friendly in this state.

Was gibt’s in Indiana?

My Brother, Larry, decided to ride along with me. But all good things must come to an end. Below, cramps prevented him from riding further. I’m truly amazed that he made it 50 kilometers without significant training.
